- And how you can help.

Don’t you just hate the term the ‘new normal’? I for one, am over it. It leans too much to just passively accepting the situation we are in. Like we are supposed to live disconnected and in state of uncertainty, anxiety and limbo.

While we cannot see a way to go back to the old ways — we definitely have some power in deciding how we make the most of what we have, even if we don’t know what is to come.

Let’s focus on your church members and how ministry can still take place even in lockdown. Here are…

This has been a difficult season. As a church community, we had to stop meeting together. Stop our Sunday services, stop our fellowship groups and cut off our normal way of receiving tithes and ministering to our church and our greater community. This season has challenged our faith, our minds and emotions and our relationships. We are either running at the speed of light trying to adapt to the newest government regulations or we are too exhausted to continue with this good fight. Both of these extremes are normal during a tough season like we are going through now.

I…

Communication to the right people through the right medium is key.

Communication from a church admin perspective — This is how you do it via GoDoChurch.

Church communication can be functional or topic related:

Functional communication refers to the messages we send to our ministry teams, the arrangements we make while organising ministry and the communication we do to ‘make things happen’. We want people to respond and take action after they received the message.

Topic-related communication is the messages we send to our community of believers to encourage, share, inform and build faith.

Both of these types of messages need to happen, and both of them need to reach the right group of people to have the effect we want them to have.

With GoDoChurch…

Using technology and a new process to facilitate tithing for previously traditional and smaller churches.

Tithing has always been an emotional and spiritual event, it’s an act of obedience and trust in God.

Context: In South Africa, we have been in lockdown because of COVID-19 since 26 March 2020. At the time of writing this article, that is about 4 months that the church hasn’t been able to meet in person.

For many churches, tithing is the main income stream in the church and in many churches this stream has dried up because of a lack of funds, but also because church members are used to bringing tithes to the ‘storehouse of the Lord’ where…

Church administration takes the wind out of most ministers’ sails. Just mention the word admin and you are met with a groan. But, we all have to do some form of admin to effectively minister to the people God entrusted to us.

But admin is important, ministry rises and falls on the effectiveness of your admin. If your administration isn’t strong enough to carry the weight of your vision, your ministry is in real danger if failing.

Admin is important.

So to lighten the load, here are three aspects that you need to have in place for your journey to…

Have you ever visited a church and received a welcome pack, an applause, and an invite to join them and then never heard from them again?

Or maybe you led someone to the Lord in a church service and in the excitement forgot to get their contact details?

Or you are a church leader frustrated by the lack of information on where all the visitors and new salvations went. You handed out over 150 Visitor Welcome packs in your service, but your church attendance doesn’t show where they went after that first visit.

You might even be a church administrator…

We think of worship services and courses, but these are all just variations on hosting an event. Planning events are integral to running a church, and planning them well, even more so.

So how sharp is your event planning skills? Are you an ‘I can barely put a bring-and-share braai together ’ or a ‘let me organise your year-end event in 2 weeks’ type? …

Investors see great potential in GoDoChurch

I am very pleased to announce that GoDoChurch has successfully closed a R 3 million Series A round of investing with AngelHub Ventures, a venture capital company in Stellenbosch.

What does this mean for your church? The investment allows us to speed up our product development and scale our support team. This means the feature requests you have asked for will get to you quicker, and we can offer you better support.

This also allows us to focus on a complete redesign of the system which we can’t wait to show you!

A bright future for GoDoChurch

We are really excited about the next season for GoDoChurch, and are looking forward to bringing you lots of improvements and feature requests in the near future.

Facebook changed the algorithm that dictates what shows up on a person’s Newsfeed and pages are pulling on the shorter end of the stick.

To some, it feels like the end of their social media efforts. But it actually just encourages us to up our game.

Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, wrote on Facebook: “I’m changing the goal I give our product teams from focusing on helping you find relevant content to helping you have more meaningful social interactions.”

A few years ago, followers would see all the posts of a Page. Facebook then changed it so some of the posts could be seen by followers. This latest change is just the next step in throttling Pages’ content even more.

Practically, this means that you…
